Every dataset behind the Nairobi Maps map: the parcel cadastre, the Development Control Policy 2026 zones, wards, sub-counties, survey blocks, roads, rivers, water networks and census population. Each has its own page with its fields, coverage and how to get it — as a GeoJSON download or a live feed for QGIS and ArcGIS.

Formats and access
- On the map: the wards, the county boundary and every parcel outline are free to see; the rest open with a paid plan.
- Download: GeoJSON, with a Platinum plan. The Parcels Cadastre and the DC Policy 2026 zones are paid once on top of the plan. The map’s Export tool also saves CSV and KML.
- Coordinates: latitude and longitude on WGS 84 (EPSG:4326).
A live feed for QGIS and ArcGIS (WFS)
A downloaded file goes out of date; a live connection does not. Nairobi Maps runs an OGC Web Feature Service at https://nairobimaps.com/wfs.php (WFS 2.0.0 and 1.1.0, GML or GeoJSON). In QGIS: Layer → Add Layer → Add WFS Layer → New, paste the address and add ?key= with your key. It only fetches what you are looking at, and it is read-only. Keys are issued to organisations — email nairobi@nairobimaps.com.
Questions
Where can I download Nairobi GIS data?
Here: every dataset on the Nairobi Maps map can be downloaded as GeoJSON with a Platinum plan, and most can be read live in QGIS or ArcGIS over WFS with an API key.
Is there a shapefile of Nairobi’s wards or parcels?
The data comes as GeoJSON, which QGIS opens directly and can save as a shapefile (Export → Save Features As → ESRI Shapefile).
Can I use the data commercially?
Personal and educational use is free. Commercial use or bulk downloads need our written permission — see the terms of use.
How current is the data?
Each dataset page shows when the file was last updated and the period it describes. Boundaries change after the register does, so a very recent subdivision may not appear yet.
